Student Council Process



Student council elections is in the air at PGHC once again! and we are so excited to share all our experiences with you here at The Parvati Post as we undergo such an integral part of our school experience. However, before we introduce our teams, let us give you a brief rundown on what student council is and how it is run. 

What is a student council?

A student council is a group of student leaders who elected by their peers to represent the entire student body. They address concerns expressed by the student body and bring it to the attention to the teachers, deans, principal and other staff members that should be informed. Student council will also host different activities for the student body for everyone to enjoy.

Why is good to have a student council?

Students who find it difficult or challenging to talk directly to a teacher can go to their student council and address the situation to them. This message will then be carried and shared with the teacher(s) involved. This is a way in which students can comfortably communicate with teachers one nerving questions.

The Positions in student council:

  • President 

 Represents the entire student body, as well as the entire student council. The president is responsible for running council meetings and is in charge of organizing all student council activities.

  • Vice President

Represents the student body and the student council when the president is not able to do so.

  • Secretary 

Responsible for keeping notes (minutes), regarding each council meeting. The secretary is also in charge of updating class lists, websites and social media.

  • Treasurer 

Responsible for handling all financial aspects of student council activities, such as fundraisers. The treasurer ensures that fuds are utilized appropriately and a budget is followed.

  • Communications officer  

Responsible for promoting and cordial communication between the student and other stakeholders such as the rest of the school, teachers etc.
