International Day of Peace at Parvati Girls' Hindu College

At Parvati Girls Hindu College, we encourage our students to practice Peace not just on International Day of Peace but every day. This year, 2022, the theme for International Day of Peace is ‘End Racism. Build Peace’. We currently live in a world where people are treated differently because of their color, nationality and even their gender. The UN General Assembly dedicated 21st September every year to Peace to try to create and encourage a society where persons can be treated equally and fairly in every place they go and everything they do, regardless of who they are. This year, at Parvati Girls Hindu College, a peace pole, donated by the Rotary Club of San Fernando South, was planted in the courtyard. On the peace pole, stated are the words ‘May Peace Prevail on Earth’ in multiple different languages. Our students were also entertained by a small program conducted by Mrs. Seegobin, the head of Parvati Girls Hindu College’s Interact club. The program included poems, a chant and a short skit, all done by our very own students. Guests from the Rotary Club of San Fernando South, District 7030, were also present to speak about Peace and to unveil the Peace pole.
